Reflection
God’s wisdom sees farther than our own. Proverbs 3:7 reminds us not to become so confident in our understanding that we stop listening to His guidance.
To fear the Lord is not to live in terror, but to approach Him with reverence, humility, and trust. It means recognizing that God knows what we cannot see and understands what we cannot yet comprehend.
Turning away from evil often begins with small, faithful choices—pausing before we react, seeking God before we decide, and choosing what is right even when another path seems easier. We may not know everything that lies ahead, but we can trust the One who does.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, keep my heart humble and teach me to seek Your wisdom above my own. Help me recognize anything that draws me away from You and give me the courage to turn from it. Guide my thoughts, choices, and steps so that my life reflects Your goodness. When I cannot see the whole path, help me trust that You are faithfully leading me. Amen.
The Quiet Strength of a Teachable Heart
There is a quiet strength in being willing to say, “Lord, show me what I may be missing.”
The world often treats certainty as confidence and self-sufficiency as success. Faith offers us another way. It teaches us that a heart does not become weaker when it welcomes correction; it becomes wiser, steadier, and more open to grace.
Sometimes the most important change begins in an ordinary moment. We pause before giving a sharp reply. We reconsider a choice that does not bring peace. We admit that a familiar habit may not be healthy. We listen more carefully when wise counsel challenges what we wanted to hear.
Humility gives God room to reshape our direction. It releases the need to be right and chooses faithfulness instead. We do not have to defend every opinion, force every outcome, or pretend that we have every answer. We can remain teachable.
Today, bring one uncertain decision, stubborn thought, or difficult situation before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal anything you have overlooked and to make your heart willing to respond. A surrendered heart is not standing still—it is becoming ready for God to lead it somewhere better.
Gentle Practice for Today
Before making your next important decision, take one quiet minute and pray: “Lord, help me see this through Your wisdom, not only through my own.” Then remain still long enough to listen.
